Information Services Disability Advisory Group Remit

Draft Remit for Combined ISDAG/DCS Committee - to be confirmed at the first meeting

Proposed Remit        

  • To consider Disability and Accessibility issues of strategic and operational importance to Information Services – including physical estate issues, IT provision, information and guidance, and support services.
  • To help ensure that all services provided by Information Services are as accessible as possible to all users
  • To consider and advise on the impact of changes in legislation, guidance and strategic planning
  • To advise and monitor progress on aspects of the University Equality and Diversity Strategy and Action Plan relating to Information Services
  • To liaise with relevant committees including but not exclusively, the Technology and Information Sub Group (TICS) of the Student Disability Committee, The Student Disability Committee, The Equality and Diversity Support Groups Committee
  • To liaise with other relevant stakeholders including but not exclusively the Student Disability Service, Estates and Buildings, Student Administration, timetabling etc.
  • To monitor and oversee the Exam support service for Registry exams for disabled students
  •  To monitor and oversee the Accessible Study room provision
  • To consider accessible hardware and software provision for University users
  •  To monitor and oversee the Disability Computing Support Service for staff

To consider Disability and Accessibility issues of strategic and operational importance to Information Services and offer informed advice and support to Planning and Resources Committee to help ensure that all services provided by Information Services are accessible to all staff and students. To consider and advise on the impact of changes in legislation, guidance and strategic planning, in relation to accessibility of services. To advise and monitor progress on aspects of the University Equality and Diversity Strategy and Action Plan relating to Information Services. To assist Planning and Resources Committee in the development of suitable processes for ensuring service provision is optimally accessible. Job Description/Main Responsibilities of Committee members: 1. To attend ISDAG Meetings (and read circulated documents) and actively contribute to discussions; 2. To review areas with scope for improvement in accessible provision and disability awareness within their team / division and report to Group; 3. To act as information and liaison link between own division / team and IS DAG; 4. To take initiatives within their division/team to promote accessible provision and disability awareness.
